Profile Picture Headshot | Trish |Intuition & your Photo Shoot

Trish has one of those faces that I can’t seem to peel my eyes from. It’s as if she has some magnetic power that draws you in and connects to something that’s not quite explainable. As odd and ‘girl-crushy’ as that sounds, there is actually an explanation – Trish is in the business of connecting with people using her powers of intuition. When Trish first contacted me about setting up a shoot for her new profile photos, I was both thrilled and a little nervous. I was thrilled because Trish is the epitome of feminine elegance and I knew that I wanted to capture that for her. I was nervous because I knew that she was an intuitive, and without understanding what that actually meant, I wondered if she could read my mind, feel my nervous vibes and know what I was going to say before I said it. Of course I had absolutely no reason to feel nervous because, firstly – Trish uses her unique talents to guide business owners to making important business and life decisions, steering them in the direction of their authentic desire through providing clarity, focus and confidence in their choices. She doesn’t carry around a crystal ball! Secondly, Trish was so clear about the vision she had for her new profile pictures, that I had absolute understanding about what her expectations were and whether I could deliver on them. Fashion, Flavour & Art Event for CANSA

I’m so excited to be writing this post right now. I’ve been meaning to share this for ages, but have been waiting to get the shoot shot and edited, to be able to share some prettiness along with the rest of the information. I was asked to participate in this upcoming event and when I heard that the non-profit organisation, Fashion Flavour & Art was Mrs South Africa Finalist, Anna Donkin’s, concept and that 100% of the proceeds generated from the event would be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) I knew that I wanted to be involved and do my part for this worthy cause. The event on 8th August 2015 is going to be held at the glamorous Shimmy Beach Club at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. The event aims to celebrate the stories that make up our individual experiences of life. #TellYourStory Guests will experience true elegance, rich flavours, inspiring creativity and everything that makes up the finer things in life. #CTConfidence | What Does Confidence Mean to You?

A while back I wrote a blog post in which I shared a comprehensive list of Cape Town based Beauty Bloggers. That post got me thinking about the impact that these girls have on the confidence levels of their readers. I see them as writers who share their thoughts and opinions on various products and services which are aimed at making the women who read their posts, feel good about themselves. Any efforts and causes by women that are intended to positively impact and uplift other women, is all good in my books! That’s when I got the idea to challenge these bloggers! I invited 10 of the bloggers on my list to participate in my #CTConfidence challenge – a reverse before and after photo shoot with yours truly. #CTConfidence challenge – a reverse before and after photo shoot Their Before photos were the ones with all the makeup, hair done and beautiful outfits. Their After photos, and the big reveal, saw them without makeup, hair undone and wearing their comfiest sweat pants.   The experience was enlightening and interesting to see how the girls responded to the process. Some were reserved and clearly a little uncomfortable with the notion of being photographed without makeup, but determined to accept the challenge. Others fully embraced it and actually enjoyed the After shoot more than the Before! I asked them to give me their thoughts on what confidence meant to them… What Does Confidence Mean to These Cape Town Bloggers? Confidence to me is wearing no makeup, no designer threads, and no filters, and still feeling beautiful and comfortable. ~ Eloise from EloiseDreyer.com Confidence means...

Personal Branding Shoot Review | Julie from Off The Rails

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Julie from Off the Rails. Julie has been a Cape Town based fashion and trend consultant for the last 9 years, and she contacted me after being told about the kind of photography I do by two separate people. She was actually a speaker at the Fine Women Network, a networking breakfast that I attend every month, except for the very one when she was the speaker, as my pups had health issues that morning. Eventually, months later, our paths finally crossed after she was encouraged to get in touch with me for the updated photos she needed for her website. The Photography Brief Julie wanted to have a few different looks for her outfit to use in different spots on her website. She also wanted to get some still-life shots of bags, shoes, clothes and jewellery to communicate the fact that she is a stylist who can mix and match many different accessories and still create a look that is cohesive and stylish. She had a very clear colour palette which was very neutral and natural in tone. I told her to bring along clothing and accessories in that range. Julie wanted images that were inspired by fashion brands and bloggers that she follows on Instagram, including cropped shots, focus on accessories and a bit of movement. The Result I think the resulting images from her shoot communicates Julie’s style & class with mix of ‘everyday woman’, ‘trusted stylist’ and ‘aspirational business owner’. Want to see more from Julie’s shoot, check out her gallery. What do you think? Do you love her pics?...

Dancers Love Dogs

Yesterday we had to go to the vet as Beijing, my pooch, my furkid, my baby has been a bit poorly this week. She’s got her medication which we have to cut up and feed to her, hidden in cheese, twice a day. We give her eye ointment twice a day since her operation last year, and as she’s getting older, her bladder isn’t as taught as it used to be, meaning more walks, more often. This is a VERY high maintenance puppy! But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep this girl healthy & happy, like all animals in the world should be. Part of the problem with animal well-being is over-population, so I’m thrilled to be doing my part by supporting organisations like Dancers Love Dogs. They raise funds by hosting a ballet at the Artscape Theatre and the sale of each tickets pays for the cost of sterilising one animal. 100% of their sales goes towards the animals. I’ve bought my ticket to see the show on 20th June AND I’m giving them a voucher for a Couture Creature shoot, like this image of me and Beijing below. They’ll raffle off the photoshoot on the day of the show, so if you want to do your bit to help animals and stand the chance of winning a Couture Creature Shoot with your beloved furkid, buy your tickets to the see the show at Computicket and buy their raffle ticket on the day at the theatre.   Let me know if you’ll be there so we can meet up for a...

Couture Makeover Portrait | Kirsten

Kirsten was featured in my final Tuesday Chat With… post for last year, but she has inspired me so much I had to share my thoughts in this blog post about her shoot. Especially as she’s made her selection and her images are at the printers as I type this. Kirsten contacted me towards the end of last year to schedule a makeover shoot just before Christmas. It was quite a while before Christmas at that time and I wondered why she was setting this up so far in advance. When Kirsten told me WHY she was doing this shoot, then the duration and planning for it all made sense. This was more than just a photo shoot and pretty pictures for Kirsten. This was a milestone and a significant event to commemorate the journey she’d been on for nearly a year. A journey that would culminate in a brand new, amazing version of herself, and one which demonstrated the strength of her personal determination, resilience and steadfast focus on achieving what she set out to achieve all those months ago. At the beginning of last year, Kirsten decided to get healthy. To make the right food choices for her, and to stick to it. She showed me one of her ‘before’ pictures from before she started down this path, and the shear transformation brought tears to my eyes. That’s when I realised the enormity of what this woman standing before me had achieved for herself. She had taken responsibility for where she was and she had taken responsibility for where she was going. My awe must have been written all over...
