I first photographed Megan a while back for her business headshots. Megan struck me as a sweet, kind and gentle soul with an effervescent smile and an easy laugh. The kind of girl who radiates sunshine and happiness.
I was thrilled when she contacted me to do another shoot, but this time a little different to the first. Megan wanted to have an outdoor shoot, in Cape Town City Centre. When we met to discuss her shoot, she arrived with a bag full of clothes to show me and we giggled like little girls as we planned the different looks and locations.
“It was great fun. We packed so much into the afternoon, different locations, outfits and accessories!! Also, extra spontaneous shots” ~ Megan Lloyd
As a photographer, you become very familiar with the idea of flexibility. Firstly, we had set the date for Megan’s shoot at a time when the weather was looking like it was going to play along. Of course Cape Town being Cape Town, the weather turned and we were forced to move the shoot to a few weeks later. Thank goodness we did though, because we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to shoot outdoors. The sun was shining, there was very little wind and the energy in Cape Town was tangible.
As it turned out, we got to practice more flexibility, in that we didn’t go to the locations in town that we had initially planned. Instead, we were so inspired by the buildings and surroundings on Bree Street, that we didn’t venture any further until we headed to Bantry Bay to get the sunset.
Days like this make me so grateful that I get to do what I do. It was like we were just two friends, out exploring Cape Town, playing dress up and having a laugh together. Man, we’re so blessed!
“Thanks Abigail for such a memorable afternoon. You really know how to showcase the best of us and bring out the confident woman!!” ~ Megan Lloyd
