On Saturday morning, it was raining outside, so we couldn’t really go out and do anything exciting. The Hubs and I committed to staying in, vegging on the couch and delighting in some much needed indulgent reading. As it happened, I was sent a link by a friend of a photographer in the States – Susannah Conway.
Her blog is filled with so much love and inspiration. As soon as I clicked on it, I knew I’d be in good company.
I signed up instantly to her ‘Exploring the Senses’ ebook download and started reading straight away.
The first chapter which touches on sight and colour, had me grappling for my phone and set me off on a journey of colour and inspiration for the rest of the weekend.
Fortunately, the weather abated on Sunday and I was able to put my new found energy to good use.
This exercise taught me 3 things:
- There’s inspiration everywhere, you just have to look for it.
- A change in routine leads to a change in thinking.
- Taking the chance to try something new will most likely result in something great. And if not, it results in lessons.
It felt good to read something new, to get out of my usual habits and to start seeing things with a fresh pair of eyes.
When was the last time you did something out of your normal routine?
