From now on, if I think of the word ‘Sassy’ I’ll imagine Ann’s gorgeous face!
What a delight to work with a woman who is so dynamic and charsimatic! Not to mention her personal style, which was brought to life in her photo shoot outfits, thanks to the girls at Beautifully You. When Ann speaks, I’m drawn in by her anecdotes and slight but noticebly different accent.  Ann had us in stiches during the shoot as we progressed through the poses and compositions, but at the same time it doesn’t take much to see why she’s in the leadership role that she is. In her relatively new role at the Arthritis Foundation, I have no doubt that she’s been a breath of fresh air for her team and the organisation. Find out more about the important work that Ann and her team are doing…

Explain what you do

I lead an amazing team that provide non-medical support for people with arthritis, their families and carers. We are the only non-profit in South Africa to do so

Who’s your target market?

Anyone suffering from Arthritis as well as their family, friends and carers

What problem of theirs do you solve?

We enable those with arthritis to live a valuable life in all its dimensions through increasing awareness, providing education and offering support

How do you make their lives (and the world) better?

We are involved in a wide range of education and support programs, provide access to information about the 150 different types of Arthritis, and advocate the interests of people with arthritis in government, medical and media circles

What makes your product/service/business different?

We exist purely to achieve a better life for all those affected with Arthritis

How do you stay motivated?

I genuinely care and believe in everything we stand for. There is still so much we can do and so many people still needing assistance, and this keeps me and the entire team motivated

Why do you do what you do?

I feel I’m contributing to something larger than myself, something vitally important. I can make an actual difference to the lives of so many people.

What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner & how did you overcome it?

Deciding to change careers while heading for my 50th birthday. Our limitations are self-imposed. “I am too old”, “they are looking for someone with more skills”, “it’s too difficult” – do any of these sound familiar? We create our own boundaries which in turn prevent us from reaching our full potential. Don’t limit your thinking, and stop using excuses. If you think small you are going to stay small. Believe in yourself!

What advice would you give other business women, either starting out or already in business?

Things won’t always run to plan or as expected and that is quite OK. Don’t compare yourself to others. You are your own unique wonderful person, embrace that.

What would you do differently if you could start your business again?

Absolutely nothing, all my life choices have brought me where I am today. All my mistakes have built resilience. If I had to be pushed to give an answer – probably to cut myself a little more slack……

What’s next for you and your business? What’s your big dream/goal?

My “next” has only just begun, changing careers close to 50 is scary and exciting all rolled into one, my “new” journey has just started.

Why did you need a photo shoot?

Branding for social media and print media

What was your expectation for the photo shoot?

To feel comfortable and get gorgeous photos

What was your expectation for your images?

Gorgeous, natural looking photos

Do you need Head Shot Images for your own business?
