I’ve often thought about attending a self defense class, but it’s one of those things that you never seem to get round to doing – until you wish you had!

I was recently invited to attend such a class by the kind folks at Empower Self Defense on Bree Street in Cape Town. When their invite came through I nearly declined it because it’s taking time out of my very precious weekend, but then I stopped and thought about it…

This is absolutely one of those skills that you hope you never need to use, but beside the physical know-how of being able to defend yourself in a tricky situation, it occurred to me that the mental confidence that comes with learning something like this would be the real benefit. After all, we know that keeping a level head and being self-assured is probably the best defense when you find yourself in an undesirable situation. The confidence that comes with knowing that you can and will defend yourself if you need to, and knowing that you’re not going to be an easy target, is a gift that all women (and men) should give themselves.

So I AM taking the Empower Self Defense people up on their offer, and when I reached out them, they kindly offered 2 tickets that I can give away to one lucky Confidence Crusader, so that she and one of her friends can join me on Saturday at 10:30.

If you’d like to stand the chance of winning a pair of tickets to the self defense class happening THIS Saturday, the 6th May, then complete the registration form on the right.

A random name draw will take place on Friday 5th May 2017, and the lucky winner will be notified by email and phone.
